Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the European Union Partnership Mission to Moldova (EUPM) and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted a seminar focused on infrastructure and critical entities.
The event brought together over 50 officials, civil servants from Moldovan and Romanian government institutions, experts from the European Commission and representatives from international security organizations.
The seminar served as a crucial platform for sharing best practices and experiences regarding identification, protection, and resilience of critical infrastructure, contributing to capacity building aimed at protecting Moldova’s strategic interests.
During his keynote address, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized the imperative need for a unified and comprehensive approach to ensuring the security of critical infrastructure, given the current regional security landscape.
The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminița-Teodora Odobescu, delivered key remarks for further panel discussions, affirming that “Romania remains steadfastly supportive of the Republic of Moldova. Together we are stronger and safer, and this means being vigilant about hybrid risks. Advancing towards European integration is the best way to enhance Moldova’s resilience, and Romania will support all initiatives that irreversibly anchor Moldova to the European Union. Rest assured of our support from Bucharest.”
Anatolie Golovco, advisor to the Prime Minister, underscored the importance of support from the Romanian Government, which is currently spearheading efforts to bolster and enhance our national capabilities to incorporate best practices from EU directives into national legislation.
Cosmin Dinescu, Head of EUPM, in turn, said that “EUPM’s comprehensive support to the Republic of Moldova is geared towards bolstering institutional capacities, improving procedures and fostering coordination among security authorities to enhance the country’s resilience against various threats.” The Ministry of Internal Affairs reiterates its unwavering commitment to strengthening national security through robust collaboration between authorities and with European partners.
