The Government has approved a draft decision amending the regulatory framework governing the automated information system “State Firearms Registry”, with the aim of strengthening the secure management of records on firearms and ammunition for civilian use.
The amendments are intended to enhance the operation of the State Firearms Registry – the national information system that supports the registration and management of civilian firearms in Moldova while providing digital public services to individuals and businesses.
Under the new framework, the Information Technology Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be responsible for the technical administration, maintenance, and further development of the system. The amendments also clearly define the roles and responsibilities of all institutions involved, ensuring the Registry’s secure, reliable, and uninterrupted operation.
The updated framework will strengthen the protection of data processed by the system, establish a solid foundation for its continued development, and improve the delivery of modern, efficient and user-oriented electronic services for individuals and the business community.
