Moldovan citizens residing in Latvia and Latvian citizens living in the Republic of Moldova will be able to exchange their driving licences under a new bilateral framework currently being negotiated between the two countries.
The Government has approved the initiation of negotiations on an Implementation Agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia concerning the implementation of the bilateral agreements on the recognition and conversion of driving licences.
The draft Agreement designates the authorities responsible for its implementation and establishes procedures for the processing and international transfer of personal data, including data protection and security safeguards, as well as the rights of data subjects.
The launch of negotiations will create the necessary conditions for citizens of both countries to benefit from a clear, secure, and predictable mechanism for the recognition and conversion of driving licences.
