The Ministry of Internal Affairs, acting as the coordinator of Working Group 24, recently hosted public consultations on the Rule of Law Roadmap, an integral component of Chapter 24, “Justice, Freedom and Security”. The event gathered representatives from civil society, state institutions and justice and security experts.
These consultations were essential for outlining and prioritizing strategic goals and activities for the 2025-2027 period. The draft Roadmap highlights Moldova’s firm commitment to effectively incorporate EU legislation into national laws with the aim of reinforcing the rule of law and enhancing the judicial system.
The main objectives outlined in the draft Roadmap include:
- Transposition of European legislation: implementing European norms and standards in justice, freedom and security sectors to ensure alignment with EU requirements;
- Institutional reforms: promoting structural reforms within national institutions to streamline processes and build public trust in state institutions;
- Civil society engagement: enhancing dialogue with civil society and encouraging their active participation in the reform process to better align public policies to citizens’ needs and expectations;
- Continuous professional development: strengthening the competences of national law enforcement personnel to address current challenges in the area of justice, freedom and security.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reaffirms its dedication to collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to establish a robust legislative framework and an effective judicial and security system that upholds European values. Continued reforms in the field of justice and adherence to the rule of law are essential for achieving European integration goals and promoting the well-being of Moldovan citizens.
