Today, September 27, 2024, following a productive dialogue with the delegation of the Danish Emergency Management Agency, a new partnership has been officially launched between Moldova and Denmark in the field of emergency management.
The primary objective of the meeting was to identify shared interests and establish a long-term collaboration through various joint initiatives. Discussions centered on assessing needs for implementation of future projects and ensuring ongoing support for Moldova’s General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
Secretary of State Mariana Lucrețeanu expressed confidence in the effectiveness of this partnership, stating, “We are open to constructive discussions and development of joint projects that will not only enhance the efficiency and crisis response capabilities of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, but will also contribute to the safety of our citizens”.
During the meeting, the Danish delegation was briefed on Moldova’s progress towards joining EU Civil Protection Mechanism and the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in emergency management. These priorities include the implementation of early warning and public alert systems, increased participation in international exercises and regional cooperation, improved response to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, expanding fire prevention campaigns, volunteer firefighter programs, and urban search and rescue mechanisms, and strengthening resilience through national emergency exercises and planning.
As part of their visit, the Danish delegation will tour the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the Regional Search and Rescue Directorate No.1 in Chisinau municipality and the Republican Training Center in Razeni.
