Vladislav Cojuhari, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, met with Sascha Strupp, Senior Programme and Analysis Officer at the OSCE Secretariat, to discuss ongoing efforts and achievements in strengthening Moldova’s law enforcement capabilities, in particular through the
“Support to the Law Enforcement Agencies in Moldova in Response to the Security Challenges in the Region” project. This collaborative meeting underscored the critical partnership between Moldova and the OSCE in advancing security and public safety objectives.
The above-mentioned project, supported by the OSCE, aligns closely with Moldova’s National Development Strategy, addressing key priorities in public security, crime prevention, and border management. This initiative is central to the Ministry’s objectives and contributes to the country’s capacity to counter evolving regional security challenges.
Key achievements were highlighted during the discussions, including substantial progress in updating Moldova’s regulatory frameworks. Through comprehensive needs assessments, Moldova has advanced regulations on intelligence-led policing, trafficking detection, and airport security. Training has also been a major focus, with certified trainers now prepared in strategic analysis and document control. Expanded security measures at Chisinau International Airport, supported by legislative updates and specialized training, have brought Moldova closer to full compliance with international standards.
Acknowledging OSCE’s role, including the inter-agency cooperation and expert contributions, the Deputy Secretary General emphasized that Moldova will focus on further legislative updates in areas such as trafficking and risk analysis, as well as enhancements in the operational capabilities of the internal affairs system, to support law enforcement efforts across borders.
The officials explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in intelligence-led policing and aviation security. Enhanced cross-border training and expert exchanges were also identified as critical steps to bolster Moldova’s law enforcement capacities, securing long-term institutional resilience.
