Cooperation between Moldova and Lithuania in the field of internal security continues to deepen, with a focus on strengthening institutional capacities and aligning with European Union standards.
These priorities were at the core of discussions held during a bilateral meeting between representatives of the ministries of internal affairs of Moldova and Lithuania.
During the meeting, State Secretary of the Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs, Diana Salcuțan, and Lithuania’s Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Gintaras Aliksandravičius, discussed key areas of cooperation, including border security and the development of operational and investigative capacities, particularly in the field of forensics.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of the partnership with Lithuania in facilitating the transfer of expertise, the organization of specialized training, the exchange of good practices, and the provision of modern equipment to Moldovan internal affairs institutions – measures with a direct impact on public safety.
The meeting also reconfirmed the joint commitment to increasing institutional and societal resilience, expanding cooperation in the field of emergency situations, and strengthening the capacity for a coordinated response to security challenges.
