Combating organised and cross-border crime, preventing fraud and investigating cybercrime were among the key topics discussed by Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin and Holger Münch, President of the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).
The discussions focused on identifying joint approaches to preventing and investigating crime, including telephone scams and fraud involving payment systems. Particular emphasis was placed on leveraging German expertise, providing specialized training for police officers and accessing advanced technologies to strengthen the investigation of cybercrime and tackle criminal networks involved in drug and arms trafficking.
The meeting also addressed the need to strengthen institutional preparedness to manage complex risks and hybrid threats, as well as to improve coordination among security authorities. The exchange of expertise and access to German technological solutions could also help enhance border controls and prevent irregular migration.
Minister Misail-Nichitin emphasised the importance of Germany’s support in strengthening the capacities of Moldovan institutions and promoting the adoption of European best practices.
Cooperation between Moldova and Germany will continue to develop through the exchange of expertise and joint initiatives aimed at improving responses to evolving security threats and bringing Moldovan institutions closer to European Union standards.
