Victor Grosu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, met with experts from the French Development Agency (AFD) to discuss a new assistance package aimed at strengthening the Ministry’s capacity to prevent and manage crises and ensure a more effective response in emergency situations.
The AFD mission, taking place from 28 to 30 September, is assessing existing capacities, identifying key needs and vulnerabilities, and laying the groundwork for a future assistance project. During the mission, the experts will meet with relevant institutions and visit the Regional Search and Rescue Directorate No. 1 of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the Integrated Dispatch Centre in Bălți and the 112 Emergency Service.
During the meeting, the Ministry of the Internal Affairs outlined its priorities for developing a well-coordinated emergency response system, built around effective inter-agency communication, modern equipment and technology, appropriate infrastructure and secure communications. Particular attention is being given to strengthening the operational capacities of the IGSU and modernising its specialised vehicle fleet, with the aim of reducing response times and ensuring better-prepared interventions.
The AFD mission will help identify the investments and solutions needed in the coming years, based on the actual needs on the ground. For citizens, stronger emergency response capacities mean faster, better-coordinated action in times of crisis and a greater ability of public institutions to protect people and communities.
