The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the French National Gendarmerie continue to strengthen their partnership to enhance security and modernize the capabilities of Moldova’s law enforcement and public order agencies.
During a meeting held today, Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin and the Director General of the French National Gendarmerie, General Hubert Bonneau, reviewed ongoing joint initiatives and identified new areas of cooperation aimed at delivering tangible benefits to citizens and supporting Moldova’s European integration efforts.
Minister Misail-Nichitin expressed her appreciation for the continued support provided by the French National Gendarmerie in strengthening the capacities of the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri and promoting its international visibility. Thanks to this cooperation, the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri has obtained observer status within the European Gendarmerie Force and become a full member of the International Association of Gandarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status, further reinforcing Moldova’s contribution to international security cooperation.
A key component of the partnership is the exchange of expertise and the adoption of advanced practices employed by the French Gendarmerie in areas such as public order management, crisis response, counterterrorism, explosive ordnance management, and the use of modern technologies in law enforcement. The parties also discussed the potential introduction of digital solutions that would enable citizens to report online fraud more easily and efficiently.
Cooperation efforts also focus on strengthening special intervention capabilities, organizing joint training exercises, training drone operators, facilitating professional exchanges for Carabinieri personnel, and modernizing the equipment and technical resources required for public order and safety operations. In this context, the Carabinieri received specialized surveillance equipment today and completed the necessary training for its deployment, further enhancing their operational monitoring and response capabilities.
The benefits of this cooperation are directly reflected in greater public safety. Through continuous professional development, modern equipment, and the adoption of European best practices, the internal affairs system is improving its capacity to prevent and counter security threats, respond effectively to emergencies, and deliver public services that are more efficient, responsive and aligned with citizen’s needs.
