The Republic of Moldova is strengthening its European partnerships in the areas of security, mobility, and modern public services. Today, senior officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs welcomed Lithuanian Minister Vladislav Kondratovič to Chișinău.
Joint projects are already delivering results for citizens. The DNA laboratory of the General Police Inspectorate has been upgraded to European standards, and its staff have been trained using Lithuanian methodologies. In addition, ten expert missions have strengthened the skills of frontline teams. The Forensic Science Center has obtained international accreditation, while criminal investigators now benefit from a virtual training center that enhances investigative practices.
Border security has also improved through the use of mobile aerial surveillance, drones, and mobile towers, enabling real-time monitoring of critical areas. At the same time, the authorities’ capacity to detect forged documents has been reinforced through specialized equipment and training, contributing to the prevention of illegal migration and human trafficking. In support of operational needs, the Lithuanian Police have donated two vehicles for the transport of detainees, strengthening the logistical capabilities of the General Police Inspectorate.
Looking ahead, two major projects will drive further transformation of the internal affairs system by 2028: EU4Borders Security – Moldova, focused on integrated border and migration management, and EU4 Law Enforcement – Moldova, aimed at enhancing the response to organized crime.
The discussions also facilitated an exchange of experience in managing migration flows, preventing fraud, and conducting risk assessments, offering practical models to support reforms that bring Moldova closer to EU standards. At the same time, these joint initiatives contribute to infrastructure modernization, professional development, and strengthened emergency response capacities.
The parties agreed to expand cooperation in the protection of critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, and projects with a direct impact on communities.
