On Tuesday, 6 Februarie 2024, we celebrate Safer Internet Day, dedicated to promoting responsible online behavior and protecting children against the risks associated with interactions on online platforms.
This day is a call to action for the global community, highlighting the need for a collective approach to ensuring a safer online environment for all users, especially the most vulnerable ones such as children and teenagers.
In this context, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announces the first high-level international forum “Child Safety Online ” to be held in Chisinau on Februarie 15-16, 2024.
Organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in partnership with the International Centre “La Strada”, with the support of the US Department of State and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, the event will bring together government representatives, international and national organizations, delegates from the European Commission and the governments of EU Member States, representatives from the ICT industry, civil society, and experts in online safety of children.
The main objective of the Forum is to provide a platform for dialogue and exchanges, where participants will share progress and challenges in safeguarding child protection in the online environment. They will also plan further cooperation to identify effective solutions.
The event will facilitate the exchange of experience between Moldova and European countries in combating online sexual abuse and will aim to establish a tailored list of priorities and reaffirm national commitments in line with international standards.
Through a cross-sector dialogue, the next steps for keeping children safe online will be agreed, according to the objectives set out in the 2024-2027 National Action Plan for Moldova’s Accession to EU, along with other sector policies.
The event will include an NGO Fair, where NGOs will exhibit resources, technologies and materials relevant to child protection, digitalization and online safety.
The Forum will be live streamed online on the website of the Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs.
For updates about the topics addressed during the Forum panels, speakers, guests and participants follow the official web pages of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Only by joining forces can we make the internet a safer and more inclusive environment for all.
