Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros had a bilateral meeting with Adjutant General of the North Carolina National Guard, Major General Marvin T. Hunt and US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, His Excellency Kent D. Logsdon.
The topics discussed included bilateral cooperation in the security sector, in particular in the area of combating corruption, integrated management of the state border, modernization of the MIA’s subdivisions with intervention equipment, exchange of knowledge, organization of joint training, as well as the stage of negotiating to finalize the action plan between the MIA and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
The Minister of Internal Affairs expressed his gratitude for the firm commitment of the US to support the development of the MIA and Moldova’s path toward EU accession. Adrian Efros thanked the American partners for the multiple trainings delivered to the MIA staff in strengthening their professional capacities.
The participants also talked about the importance of the US support to strengthen civil protection capacities in Moldova.
In this regard, it is essential to take over the best practices in the settlement of exceptional situations and to modernize operational technologies that will increase the efficiency of interventions, especially in the settlement of fires.
‘The MIA is focused on providing quality services to citizens, on strengthening its position at regional and international level, thus becoming a European security provider’ said Adrian Efros.
The parties reiterated their readiness to continue bilateral partnerships for the benefit of the country’s citizens.
