October 24, 2023, Chisinau: The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had a bilateral meeting with the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Falk Lage.
“The contribution of the Council of Europe was and remains important in the promotion of democratic reforms, human rights and the rule of law, and the expertise offered over time is indispensable for the promotion of internal reforms”, said Minister Adrian EFROS.
The parties agreed to maintain good cooperation with the EU institutions for the harmonization of national legislation related to the MIA field, regarding the fight against crimes, as well as the implementation of projects related to strengthening the response capacities of the MIA employees responsible for ensuring, maintaining, restoring order and public security, as well as the intervention in emergency situations.
On the discussion platform, the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were presented, which focus on the implementation of the national mechanism for monitoring the implementation of the Lanzarote Convention, the implementation of the National Program Women, Peace and Security/ UN Resolution 1325, preventing and fighting crime, corruption, improving the capabilities of employees, etc.
We specify that the Council of Europe, through the Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021-2024, assists the country in the implementation of legislative and institutional reforms in the fields of human rights, the rule of law and democracy.
