Moldovan driving licences to be recognised in Ireland without additional exams

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the signing of an agreement with the Irish authorities on the mutual exchange of driving licences. The agreement will allow licences to be recognised and replaced without the need to sit additional theoretical or practical exams, in accordance with each country’s legal requirements.

This initiative is designed to support Moldovan citizens, particularly those residing in Ireland, by facilitating their integration and improving access to the labour market. It also contributes to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Key provisions of the agreement include the mutual recognition of valid licences, their exchange based on agreed equivalence tables, clarification of requirements for different vehicle categories, and the resolution of any discrepancies through direct negotiations via diplomatic channels.
