Ministry of Internal Affairs engages in bilateral screening with European Commission in Brussels

A team from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, led by State Secretary Andrei Cecoltan and Deputy Secretary General Vladislav Cojuhari is in Brussels this week for bilateral screening meetings with European Commission representatives. The purpose of the meeting is to present Moldova’s legislation and assess its alignment with European rules and standards.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for Chapter 24 of the acquis communautaire, which covers “Justice, Freedom and Security”. These discussions will review progress made and pinpoint areas requiring further efforts to meet European standards. Key topics include the transposition of EU directives related to combating organized crime, trafficking in arms and human beings, money laundering and financial investigations.

The presentation sessions are being held between September 23-26.
