Ministry of Internal Affairs and Danish Refugee Council strengthen collaboration for asylum seekers’ support in Chișinău: memorandum signed until 2025

Today, December 11, 2023, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding valid until December 31, 2025, outlining the general intentions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) and DRC to cooperate in supporting the Asylum Seekers Accommodation Center in Chișinău.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, expressed gratitude for the assistance provided to the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, aimed at improving services for refugees.

It should be noted that the stepping up of cooperation is justified by DRC’s continued support for the GIM Accommodation Center, involving renovation of kitchens and sanitary blocks, and provision of medical assistance and office supplies.

Around 4000 foreigners have applied for asylum in the Republic of Moldova since the beginning of this year, with over 3500 being Ukrainian citizens.

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international humanitarian organization that supports refugees and displaced persons, providing protection and humanitarian assistance. The support aims to help refugees become self-reliant and integrate in the host country. DRC collaborates with communities, civil society, and relevant authorities to promote protection of rights and peaceful coexistence of refugees.
