Minister of Internal Affairs present at the opening of Sculeni Border Crossing Point

Adrian Efros, the Minister of Internal Affairs, took part in the official inauguration of the Sculeni Border Crossing Point. This initiative marks an important step in improving border infrastructure and streamlining traffic control and surveillance processes at the border between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

With an investment supported by the European Union under the Joint Operational Program Romania – Republic of Moldova 2014-2020, the renovation of the Sculeni Border Crossing Point has brought numerous crucial improvements. Minister Efros underscored the project’s significance highlighting extensive infrastructure and modernization works, such as additional runways, pavilions, rehabilitated access roads and improved lighting and marking systems.

Addressing attendees during the inauguration event, Minister Efros remarked: “The modernization of the Sculeni Border Crossing Point underscores our steadfast commitment to bolstering cross-border cooperation and ensuring the security and fluidity of border traffic between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. This endeavor not only improves border crossing experience for travelers, but also contributes to combating cross-border crime and fostering effective cooperation among border authorities.” The modernization of the Sculeni Border Crossing Point exemplifies the robust partnership between Romania, the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in advancing security, stability and prosperity in the region.
