Minister of Internal Affairs had a bilateral meeting with the Representative and Country Director of UN World Food Programme

Chisinau, July 10, 2024 – Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros had a bilateral meeting with Katrien Ghoos, Representative and Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP), to discuss key issues related to the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and UNWFP.

Minister Efros highlighted Moldova’s efforts to manage the flow of refugees from Ukraine, emphasizing the country’s implementation of temporary protection measures since March 1, 2023. This government decision has established the conditions and measures necessary to facilitate the integration of refugees into the Moldovan society.

The Minister also highlighted Moldova’s recent accession to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, enhancing the country’s emergency response capabilities. The key priorities discussed by the officials included: strengthening cooperation with the EU in disaster prevention and response, enhancing training for emergency situations, expanding programs for integrating displaced persons from Ukraine, and strengthening collaboration with international organizations to support initiatives to reduce pressures on host countries and improve conditions in countries of origin.
