Minister Efros held a meeting with EU officials

Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros met with representatives from the European External Action Service (EEAS), the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs, and the European Union Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM) as part of a strategic fact-finding and assessment mission held from November 10 to 14.

The discussions focused on the achievements of the EUPM’s first year in Moldova, with both sides recognizing the substantial progress made. They emphasized the value of building on the experience, knowledge and cooperation networks developed thus far. This moment was noted as a critical step in strengthening the capacities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and pursuing new objectives to enhance institutional autonomy.

With support and expertise from the EUPM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is focusing on several priority areas, including expanding institutional capacity through specialized resources, bolstering preparedness and response capacity to hybrid threats, enhancing police effectiveness in maintaining public order and combating cybercrime through advanced equipment and software, and digitizing evidence and investigative processes.

The partnership with EUPM remains essential to the Moldovan authorities in achieving these goals, advancing the commitment to a stable and sustainable rule of law.
