Peace mission: fifth Carabinieri contingent departs for Kosovo

The fifth Carabinieri contingent departs today for the international peacekeeping mission under the Kosovo Force (KFOR), contributing to the multinational effort to maintain peace and stability in Kosovo.

For the first time, the contingent includes two women, reaffirming that professionalism in peacekeeping knows no gender. This also marks the second Moldovan contingent to be led by a woman.

“Your participation in this mission carries a significance that extends far beyond a routine operational rotation. It reaffirms that the Republic of Moldova is a reliable partner – one that understands the value of international solidarity and the important role its institutions can play in strengthening security beyond its own borders,” stated Daniella Misail-Nichitin, Minister of Internal Affairs.

“We undertake this mission with honor and dedication, confident that we will represent the Republic of Moldova with dignity while contributing to the promotion of peace, cooperation, and the values we share,” said Liubovi Luchianic, commander of the contingent.

The participation of Moldovan Carabinieri in international missions and operations reflects an important contribution to global peace, security, and stability, while upholding fundamental rights and freedoms, and promoting the rule of law, in line with the UN Charter and the Republic of Moldova’s international commitments.
