Sculeni–Sculeni: another step towards a European border

Another border crossing point is set to adopt a coordinated control regime, following the European model that brings Moldova closer to the European Union.

Sculeni–Sculeni will thus become the third crossing point to implement this system, alongside Albița – Leușeni and Giurgiulești -Galați.

Today, the Cabinet of Ministers approved initiation of negotiations of the agreement between the Republic of Moldova and Romania on coordinated control at the Sculeni – Sculeni road border crossing point.

According to the agreement, border checks will be carried out jointly by the authorities of both countries, in both directions – on the territories of Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

This approach will reduce bureaucracy, shorten waiting times and enhance security for citizens and transport operators.

The introduction of coordinated control at the Sculeni – Sculeni border crossing point will make border crossing more efficient and convenient, while fostering trade and strengthening ties between communities on both sides of the Prut River.
