Moldovan-Romanian cooperation for the modernization of medical services within the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The modernisation of medical services in the internal affairs system, so that frontline personnel and citizens can benefit from professional, safe and prompt medical care, is the focus of discussions at the second Steering Committee meeting of the HEALTHCARE project, held in Chisinau.

The event takes place within the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova 2021-2027 Program and is dedicated to assessing the project implementation status, analysing the results achieved so far, and defining the next steps.

Specialists from Moldova and Romania are reviewing the progress made and discussing the modernization of medical infrastructure, the delivery of advanced medical equipment, and the further development of the capacities of the MIA Medical Service. A key component of the project is the refurbishment and expansion of the Emergency Unit at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Hospital – an investment that will enable faster medical interventions in emergency situations.

At the opening of the meeting, MIA Secretary of State Victor Grosu highlighted the importance of the project for strengthening institution’s medical services:

“The HEALTHCARE project directly contributes to strengthening institutional capacities and improving the quality of medical care provided by the MIA Medical Service, for the benefit of employees, veterans, and the citizens we serve”.

The Steering Committee’s agenda includes reviewing progress across the project components, evaluating the activities carried out so far, and planning the next steps to ensure the successful achievement of the project’s objectives.

The HEALTHCARE project contributes to building a medical system that is better equipped to respond to the needs of law enforcement and public safety personnel, while also supporting the delivery of professional medical services for the wider community.
