Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin met with Nick Pietrowicz, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the United States in the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting, held at the start of the American diplomat’s mandate, was an occasion for the Minister to welcome him to Chisinau and to express confidence in a long-term partnership built on collaboration and mutual understanding.
Discussions focused on advancing joint projects that bring direct benefits to citizens and on strengthening Moldovan-American cooperation in strategic areas, with particular attention to democratic reforms and Moldova’s European path.
U.S. support is already visible through concrete results: the modernized TETRA network now enables rapid communications for internal affairs personnel, the Family Justice Center of the General Police Inspectorate provides vital services to vulnerable groups, and several localities have benefited from newly built, energy-efficient fire stations.
Joint initiatives also focus on protecting vulnerable individuals, particularly against human trafficking and sexual violence, by employing specialized technologies and dedicated teams that support victims and facilitate their access to justice.
Both parties reaffirmed the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation to strengthen the professional skills of Ministry of Internal Affairs employees through participation in specialized programs and training, including in cybersecurity, hybrid threat management, and the prevention and combating of terrorism and its financing.
The partnership with the United States thus enhances citizen safety through consistent support and open dialogue in areas vital to the security and public order of the Republic of Moldova.
