Effective migration management depends on clear legal frameworks, strong international cooperation, and respect for fundamental rights. To advance these objectives, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the initiation of negotiations on the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on readmission, as well as the membership of the official delegation authorized to conduct the negotiations.
The proposed Agreement will establish a legal framework for cooperation on the return of persons who no longer meet the conditions for entry, stay, or residence in the territory of either contracting state, reflecting evolving regional and international dynamics. It also sets out the procedures governing the transit of such persons through the territory of the contracting parties.
In addition, the Agreement defines the responsibilities of both parties regarding the readmission of their own nationals, stateless persons, and third-country nationals, including procedures for transfer, transportation, as well as the allocation of related costs.
The conclusion of the Agreement will strengthen cooperation between the competent authorities from Moldova and Uzbekistan, streamline readmission procedures, and contribute to a more effective, predictable and well-coordinated migration management system.
