The Ministry of Internal Affairs has received a new batch of modern TETRA communications equipment, donated by the European Union Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova under the project “Modernization of the TETRA Network for Enhanced Security, Governance, and Resilience.”
The new equipment will support the modernization of the internal affairs system communications network and strengthen secure strategic communications among the entities responsible for crisis prevention, response and management. By enabling the secure and continuous transmission of real-time information between dispatch centers and operational teams, the system will improve the coordination of interventions and ensure a faster, more effective response in support of citizens.
“The EUPM’s contribution to modernizing the TETRA communications network, protecting critical infrastructure, and strengthening our capacity to address hybrid threats represents valuable support for citizens’ safety and for our ability to respond effectively to emergencies,” said Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
For her part, EUPM Head of Mission Kirsten Joppe reaffirmed the European Union’s continued commitment to supporting the modernization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ crisis management and hybrid threat response capabilities, as well as the development of a secure and resilient communications system.
The newly delivered equipment will enhance secure communications both during crisis situations and in the daily operations of the ministry personnel. It will ensure operational continuity even in complex or exceptional circumstances, including situations in which other communication systems are disrupted. This will enable responsible institutions to maintain effective coordination and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of services to citizens.
The project also includes a training component, under which 75 internal affairs employees will be trained as instructors for TETRA end-users. This will help ensure the effective and efficient use of the new technologies across all beneficiary structures.
This phase of the project makes a direct contribution to the modernization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ communications infrastructure and strengthens the capacity of its institutions to respond quickly, safely, and in a coordinated manner during emergencies, while delivering more efficient services to citizens.
