Public safety is built every day through strong institutions and well-trained police officers who are ready to respond wherever people need them.
Starting today, police officers will be even closer to the communities they serve, and assistance will reach more quickly when needed. Seventeen special vehicles will operate as mobile police stations, traveling to localities, including more remote areas, so that residents can receive support directly in their communities without having to travel to a police station in another locality.
This initiative is made possible through a transfer agreement signed between the GS Foundation and the General Police Inspectorate, with the support of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
In addition to the mobile stations, police officers have been equipped with 340 in-care video systems, that enable them to document interventions and increase the transparency of patrol activities. They have also received equipment for public communication and information analysis, as well as 30 IT workstations for processing and analysing data in criminal investigations.
“These resources support the work of police officers where it matters most: in the community, in preventing and combating crime, documenting interventions, and strengthening institutional transparency”, said Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
The project “Strengthening the National Police of the Republic of Moldova in crisis prevention and crime fighting” is one of the most significant security cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany. It focuses on modernizing the National Police, developing community policing, and strengthening institutional and operational capacities.
Investments in modern technology and equipment help the police keep pace with emerging forms of crime and the challenges posed by technological developments. At the same time, they contribute to building a more resilient institution capable of responding to current threats and providing effective security services that are closer to the needs of citizens.
