Bilateral cooperation and the continuation of joint projects were the main topics on the agenda of the meeting of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, with the Ambassador of Australia to the Republic of Moldova, His Excellency Bruce Kevin Jeffrey Edwards.
The officials talked about expanding cooperation between the states, in particular, in terms of improving national security. In this sense, the Minister of Internal Affairs informed the Ambassador of Australia in the Republic of Moldova about the New National Security Strategy of the Republic of Moldova, as well as about the importance of the Program “Consolidation of the governance of the security sector in the Republic of Moldova 2023-2025”, which focuses on stimulating the executive capacity and legislative to contribute to good governance in the security sector through the development of policies, the development of legislative acts and significant supervision, the strengthening of strategic and operational management capacities within MIA, etc.
At the same time, the MIA’s short- and medium-term objectives and priorities were emphasized.
Other topics of discussion focused on the strengthening of border management, security and public order, preparation and response to exceptional situations, etc.
His Excellency Bruce Kevin Jeffrey Edwards expressed his appreciation for the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs aimed at ensuring and maintaining border security, but also the climate of order and safety in society.
The participants showed openness for future collaboration and cooperation on topics of common interest.
