The Republican Training Center of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) was officially inaugurated today, December 22, 2023. The event was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Adrian Efros, the head of IGSU, Colonel Alexandru Oprea, representatives of the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, as well as local public authorities.
In his opening speech, the Minister of Internal Affairs stated that the opening of the new training center for rescuers and firefighters is another resolute step towards aligning our country with European Union standards.
The official mentioned that the specialized training with state-of-the-art equipment in ICT and TETRA will contribute to strengthening the response capacity to threats in the border area.
Additionally, Adrian Efros expressed gratitude to the Government of Romania for support and emphasized that the Training Center will provide the appropriate environment for training 112 operators and IGSU and GPI dispatchers to improve the quality of emergency services provided to the population in various risk situations.
In his speech, the head of IGSU, Colonel Alexandru Oprea, mentioned that quality training of professionals can only be achieved in favorable conditions for the instructional-educational process.
In this regard, Colonel Oprea highlighted the importance of building this center, which is similar to other entities in EU member states, to provide quality training for both IGSU staff and various categories of the population outside the MIA system.
Additionally, Colonel Oprea emphasized that on average over 3200 individuals undergo theoretical and practical training in the Training Center, and the new premises are fully equipped for training.
The building was constructed with the support of Improving ICT-based communication capacities in the North-East transboundary area of Romania-Moldova HARD/3.2/95 Project, funded by the European Union through the Joint Operational Program Romania-Republic of Moldova 2014-2020.
The Republican Training Center is equipped with classrooms, study rooms for trainers, trainees, and audients, with a capacity for 300 people, as well as accommodation facilities. There is also a room for training in ICT and TETRA and a training container where rescuers and firefighters will conduct practical exercises.
The total budget of the project was 2.6 million EUR, including 1,500,832.27 EUR allocated by IGSU. The EU grant is 1,009,985.4 EUR, and the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Moldova was 490,846.87 EUR.
