Meeting between Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, and World Bank representatives

On June 7, 2024, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, met with a World Bank delegation led by Sameh Naguib Wahba, Regional Director for Sustainable Development at the Europe and Central Asia region.


During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing assistance provided by the World Bank to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and future joint collaborative projects. Over the past year, the close cooperation with the World Bank has significantly advanced the country’s reform agenda. Minister Adrian Efros expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s constant and effective support, noting its reliability as a partner in achieving Moldova’s reform objectives.

They also discussed the financial support provided by the World Bank to strengthen civil protection capacities and improve the resilience of the country’s emergency services. These funds will help the country fulfill its public security obligations and commitments. Additionally, the officials addressed another grant aimed at supporting refugees and host communities in Moldova.

The attendees emphasized the importance of strengthening efforts to ensure a coordinated response to disasters, which can impact multiple countries simultaneously. The benefits of joining the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism were also highlighted.

Minister Adrian Efros also noted the progress made in implementing electoral legislative recommendations to ensure democratic and fair elections, stressing the importance of the World Bank’s continued support in achieving these goals.

The officials remarked that Moldova has once again proven itself to be a trusted global partner by receiving a large number of refugees, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to progress in line with the EU agenda.
