For the attention of citizens: General simulation for the Summit – Sunday, May 14th. Time slot 09:00-14:00

The Media Group for Security News on the European Political Community Summit (MGSN-EPC) 2023 informs:

Authorities responsible for the security of the Summit organise a general rehearsal on Sunday, May 14th, starting at 09:00 am, with a duration of 5 hours, in the light of the international event to be held in the Republic of Moldova on June 1st.

In this context, security perimeters will be set up in the central area of Chisinau. At the same time, temporary traffic restrictions will be applied on the main streets of Centre and Botanica neighbourhoods of the capital, while the official convoys will move to the venue of the Summit. Some traffic restrictions will be imposed on Bulboaca-Chisinau routes and back.

The aim of the general simulation of May 14th is to improve the inter-institutional work and cooperation and to test the integrated security concept. The involved forces are also expected to learn security missions and to deal with tactical situations.

An appropriate level of safety and security will be maintained, considering compliance with the daily life of all citizens.

People will be informed in advance about the activities occurring during the simulation. For this purpose, information and maps with recommended alternative routes will be shared in order to avoid crowds and facilitate travel to Chisinau and the adjacent areas.

Police urge drivers to be understanding of any traffic difficulties, keep calm and show road etiquette.

It is also advisable for citizens to plan in advance their travel route for May 14th, between 09:00-14:00. It is recommended to take the adjacent roads to the Chisinau International Airport, to avoid the main streets of the capital as well as the route Chisinau – Bulboaca and back.

The authorities responsible for the security of the Summit inform citizens about possible delays and traffic congestion in the centre of Chisinau and the surrounding areas due to the general simulation.

For security reasons, some information, including those that provide for restrictions, cannot be made public until very close to the time of their imposition. In this context, the national authorities urge citizens to understand the inconvenience caused by the lack of prior information.

The authorities count on the proactive attitude of the citizens during all the preparatory process for this major event that will take place in our country, in Bulboaca village.

The security measures, to be implemented for the EPC Summit, are of international standards and will be gradually introduced with an increased level of flexibility to minimise the inconvenience to citizens.

For the attention of the mass media: production of material related to the general simulation may be done outside the security perimeters in order not to affect the running of the general training.

Exclusive accreditation is envisaged for journalists wishing to report in detail on the simulation of May 14th. Thus, several press pools (special locations arranged for journalists) will be set up along the routes taken by the official convoys within the sterile security zone. Journalists are invited to apply for temporary accreditation until May 12th, 15:00, at: stirisecuritatesummit2023@mai.gov.md

Information on temporary accreditation documents for the general simulation on May 14th can be found at https://mai.gov.md/ro/acreditare-jurnalisti
