The Ministry of Internal Affairs and UNICRI have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco, jointly with Director of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), Antonia Marie De Meo, have signed a Memorandum of Collaboration on the fight against crime and promotion of an effective system of international justice.

By signing the document, an action plan is to be also implemented to enable the Ministry of Internal Affairs to design and implement training programmes in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.

Its role is to support the Ministry of Internal Affairs in strengthening institutional capacities for effective implementation of modernisation processes in order to achieve the objectives set by the national strategies.

During the meeting held today, the officials discussed about regional security, border security, rapid response capacity building, security and IT technology improvement, as well as about the importance of institutional capacity building of the MIA employees on initial and continuous staff training.

Minister Revenco thanked the EU and the UNICRI representatives for their openness and expressed her appreciation for the fruitful cooperation between the institutions, which significantly improves the life of Moldovan citizens.
