In the framework of the visit to Romania, Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco attended a meeting with representatives of the Committee on Defence, Public Order and National Security and of the Committee on Foreign Policy of the Romanian Senate.
Officials reviewed actions for strengthening internal affairs in the context of threats coming from the Russian Federation, given the immediate vicinity of our countries to the war in Ukraine.
The dignitaries discussed the hybrid threats to which the Republic of Moldova is subjected and the continuation of the European path of reforms started by our country. In this sense, Minister Ana Revenco also spoke about the MIA’s Activity Plan and priorities for 2023, in the context of the national and regional situation.
Revenco also spoke to the Romanian senators about the importance of the operationalization of the EU Security HUB in Chisinau for ensuring the EU’s security climate on the Eastern security belt of Europe.
The message that together we are stronger in the face of any threat has been reconfirmed by the Minister’s attendance at this meeting one year after the outbreak of war on Ukraine: ’We have all succeeded in facing unprecedented challenges – with reserves, equipment and human resources calibrated for peacetime. And we have resisted. The main objective has been and remains to ensure social stability and to maintain the quality of life in the given times for our citizens’ said Minister Ana Revenco.
In turn, Senator Nicoleta Pauliuc, Chairman of the Committee on Defence, Public Order and National Security, said: ’Moldova has become a provider of security by strengthening the security belt on Europe’s eastern border. In addition, our states cooperate successfully in the fight against cross-border crime within the EU Security HUB and within bilateral relations’.
Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, Senator Titus Corlatean, has expressed his openness of any format to the Republic of Moldova in order to support our country in its path towards European integration. The members of the committees have reiterated their willingness to support the Republic of Moldova in identifying formats to fight disinformation and propaganda.
The parties discussed strategic bilateral projects, joint access to external non-reimbursable funds for strengthening the security and emergency response system, training of Moldovan specialists in Romania and joint management of the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The coordination of security actions between our countries was also discussed in the format of a trilateral technical meeting that the Minister had with Senators Pauliuc and Corlatean. The three officials discussed the joint agenda to block Russia’s attack and aggression capabilities against the world’s states.
