Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco had a series of high-level formal meetings in Brussels on December 6-7.
During the meeting with H.E. Ylva Johansson, European Commissioner for Home Affairs, the officials discussed the development prospects of the EU Security HUB in Chisinau. The Minister also outlined the regional situation and the dangers generated by the hybrid war, which is intensifying on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
During the meeting with Andrius Kubilius, Member of the European Parliament, the Minister discussed about the EU security measures and noted that the EU’s security belt bordering the war should be strengthened, by providing support to the Republic of Moldova.
During the meeting with Peter Wagner, Director of the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments, officials discussed security issues in the region and how the EU could contribute to building the resilience of the Republic of Moldova, at the border of the war.
During meeting with Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, the officials discussed the way Moldova is implementing the priorities set out in the European Commission’s Opinion, with a special focus on the internal security and the fight against organised crime. The Commissioner noted that the EU stands ready to provide the necessary equipment to the Republic of Moldova for strengthening internal security.
During the meeting with Margaritis Schinas, Vice-President of the European Commission, the officials continued the discussion regarding the importance of security in ensuring the rule of law. The intensified cooperation, greater support for the Republic of Moldova and interoperability in processes with EU security structures were also discussed.
