Starting this Saturday, the waiting time at the Leuseni-Albita border crossing point will be shortened

Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco: ‘Easter brings joy to our people. The MIA comes with an additional reason for joy, namely the decrease of the waiting time at the Leuseni-Albita checkpoint, starting this Saturday’.

Good news for Moldovans – the waiting time at the Moldovan-Romanian border checkpoint Leuseni-Albita will be reduced starting April 15th, 2023, 8 am.

The efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs resulted in the promulgation by the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, of the Agreement between the Governments of Romania and the Republic of Moldova on the coordinated control on the territory of Romania at the state border crossing point Albita (Romania) – Leuseni (Republic of Moldova) on the entry into Romania. This means that Moldovan and foreign citizens will spend less time in line to enter the European Union.

Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco, stated that ’Easter brings joy to our people, and the MIA comes with an additional reason for joy, namely the decrease of the waiting time at the Leuseni-Albita checkpoint, starting this Saturday, for those who want to visit their families, go to study or work, for business purposes or on holiday’.

The border authorities from Romania and the Republic of Moldova will implement starting April 15th, 8 am, a coordinated control on entering Romania. The difference from the previous way of carrying out the control is that on the exit direction from the Republic of Moldova, at the Leuseni border crossing point, the crossing will be made without control, and the stop for checks will be made on the entry direction into Romania, at the Albita border crossing point.

The Ministry that I have the honour to lead will continue to strive to improve the quality of life in the home affairs system, through digitisation of processes, greater accessibility at borders, safer communities, quicker interventions and a friendlier social environment. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a bright Easter with health and peace!’ Minister Ana Revenco concluded.
