Identification of new priorities for Moldovan-Polish cooperation in the field of internal affairs

Strengthening relations with international development partners remains one of the priorities of the MIA agenda. Being in challenging times, external support and assistance is of great importance.

In this context, the MIA delegation met with the Polish delegation led by Ambassador Marek Calka. Discussions focused on the institutional objectives of the MIA and the support possibilities offered by the Polish side, including via the Solidarity Fund PL.

Officials reviewed the support provided in 2022, through training of MIA employees in various areas, and discussed priorities for assistance in 2023, which will focus on supporting the preparation of the USAR/INSARAG rescue module and creating an enabling environment for its operation. Likewise, the opportunity was discussed for providing support in developing the skills of forensic laboratories, by training and certifying MIA forensic scientists in accordance with EU standards, strengthening bilateral cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration and subordinate agencies, through actions aimed at improving police work to the benefit of citizens.

At the end, the Polish side reiterated its interest in organising a workshop in Chisinau for the heads of the Ministry of Interior, with a view to strengthening strategic communication capacities and bringing them closer to the EU.
