The 4th meeting of the EU Hub for Internal Security and Border Management took place

Today, December 6, the 4th meeting of the EU Hub for internal security and border management of the Republic of Moldova took place, organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

Following the meeting, it was established that the Republic of Moldova and the EU will increase strategic and operational cooperation in the fight against organized crime on the financial dimension, mostly about the European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats (EMPACT).

The Republic of Moldova and the EU are to intensify the exchange of information in the field of financial investigations regarding organized crime and terrorism, to support decision-making and cooperation based on jointly identified trends and patterns.

Also, the European Union will support the efforts of the Republic of Moldova in implementing a legal framework for the pursuit and confiscation of illicit assets, including the fight against financial crime and money laundering.

At the same time, the Republic of Moldova is encouraged to use the networks, which can be provided by the EU, (especially the EU operational network for combating money laundering – AMON, the operational network @ON), the EU member states, Europol (especially the European Center for Crime Financial and Economic – EFECC and the European Center for Serious and Organized Crime – ESOCC), EUROJUST, FRONTEX, CEPOL and EUBAM.

Also, the European Union will invite the Republic of Moldova to participate in the meetings of the AMON Annual General Assembly and the FIU Platform Meeting, when important and relevant topics for the Republic of Moldova will be included in the agenda.

The next EU Hub meeting will be a review meeting and is planned to be held in the first quarter of 2023.
